The adventurers helped the ranger, Falcon, dispose of a band of orcs intent on attacking the ranger's lodge. They lost track of their client, Tibor Wester, and their companions Shanjan and Vincent the ox in the chaos.
The adventurers left Falcon's hunting lodge in search of their lost companions. Moneux suggested the party return to the scene of the battle and follow any tracks left by their companions. The party was able to find wheel marks left from their companions' escape. The adventurers followed the tracks for several miles until they came to a clearing, where they saw an old, crumbling tower sitting atop a hill with a group of hawks circling over the building.
The Old Tower
Varien sent Poe out to scout the tower but the raven only made it so far until the hawks started after him. Poe managed to return to the party as Varien destroyed one of the hawks with his magic. Varien was able to learn that the tower's entrance was nearly blocked by a boulder and that Tibor was near the tower.
Latham led the charge toward the tower where they saw Tibor signalling to stay quiet. Tibor explained that he and Shanjan took refuge outside of the tower after they escaped the orc attack. The entrance to the tower was blocked by the huge boulder when Tibor left to look for water but it had moved by the time he returned — moments before the adventurers arrived — and neither Vincent nor Shanjan were there.
The party heard the bellowing moans of an ox from inside the tower, the party rushed in to see a giant holding Vincent and readying itself to feast on the animal. Shanjan was also inside and shouted for help as he saw Latham. Quoorin was able to throw the giant off its balance, freeing a wounded Vincent before the giant could finish its feast. The giant was overwhelmed by the adventurers' attacks and was finished off by a mighty attack by Quoorin.
After the dust settled the adventurers searched through the old tower to find a chest full of silver hidden under a floor tile.
Back in Town
With the adventurers reunited with their companions they set off to Phandalin, and were fortunate enough to make the journey without any additional complications.
In Phandalin, the adventurers petitioned to Harbin Wester for a greater reward than 50 gold pieces. The townmaster obliged with a reward of 100 gold pieces for having to fend off the ankhegs at Tibor's logging camp. With their reward and the spoils of their quest the adventurers visited the Lionshield Coster to replace and restore their equipment before they retired for the night at the Stonehill Inn.
